About Us / Disclaimer
As the wife of a sleep apnea sufferer I have lain awake for night after night watching my husband stop breathing - and I have seen at first hand how he can sleep for 9 hours and still feel tired and disfunctional on waking. I have put together this website in an effort to pull together as much sleep apnea information as possible, and to present it in an easily-understood, non-medical manner. In doing so I hope to help:
- those of you who suspect for the first time that sleep apnea could be a problem and are doing some initial research
- those of you who are being treated for sleep apnea and are looking for a non-medical explanation of what they should expect
- those of you who want support and suggestions from other sleep apnea sufferers and their families, or who would like to share their own experiences (see Contact Us)
- anybody who sleeps with or near a sleep apnea sufferer, who is looking for information, reassurance, understanding and commiseration!
Please be aware that I am in no way medically-qualified and that this website does not pretend to be coming from a medical standpoint. I have researched, pulled together and presented the information that has been useful to me. In doing so I do not endorse any treatment or product, I make no recommendations and I take no responsibility. Where I have featured articles by other writers, I do so to provide information - not because I necessarily agree with what they say.
Remember, if you are a sleep apnea sufferer, or know one, you must seek proper medical attention as soon as possible. Sleep apnea in its mildest form is a depressing, debilitating problem. Sleep apnea in its most serious form is life threatening. Don't mess around!
